NSTabView doesn't do the nifty sliding animation, I don't know when it will. Also, it doesn't do N/S/E/W orientations (well it does N). These are both features we know people want. Is there some other feature you were thinking about?

I'm working on a project with a group of friends, and we would like to implement a tab view similar to Project Builder's sliding Build/Run/Find/Debug section. When we started looking at NSTabView we found that several parts were unfinished. The current state of NSTabView has left us wondering if we should write our own TabView class to handle it, or if the current NSTabView can handle it, and if so, how?

Handle what? What functionality are you missing?
