You may not be planning for a drawer, but I'd consider it. Drawers are now
the standard way to open up a new area with new UI items. There may be
reasons for acting in a different way (and there are examples in the
standard UI--the SavePanel grows and shrinks, the System Preferences grows
and shrinks in different ways), but drawers will often be the better way.

Besides, drawers are one thing that separate us from Brand Ecch.
