Is this what caused the first few versions of OS X to be wacky in the
german localization? You'd think this would be a top item on the todo
list.

Get the string files back from then and regenerate the French etc nib file.
Only problem now is that you need to fix the sizes and placements
of the controls in the window each time you regenerate the file.
