Global Keybaord Shortcut

How can I attach a global keyboard shortcut to my application?

I know I can do this using services, but I am limited to Cmd-Shift+Key,
while I would prefer a F**.

If I remember well, this can be done using Carbon Events, but I would prefer
to avoid mixing them with Cocoa (I don't even know if it is possible? Can
anyone confirm?). I could maybe create a separate small Carbon application
just for this (or even a kext :-), since there is source code available
showing how to do this), but I would like to avoid this solution if
possible.

Thanks,

Bruno
