Somewhat OT : PPD?

Well, I finally scrapped up enough moola to buy a printer for the PowerBook, one of the new Lexmark 320 laser printers. Looks like a nice unit for the bucks. Problem is I can't figure out how to print only even or odd pages so I can print two sided Cocoa Docs! Called Apple tech support and they pointed me at Lexmark, saying that "features" like printing only odd or even pages were part of the PPD file from the vendor.
Lexmark says it's Apple's fault and responsibility! So I track down the PPD in question and do a find for "odd" and "even," but there are no hits.
Tried the same search on several other PPDs--same negative results. So,
is this essential feature missing from OS X, or am I looking in the wrong place? Any workarounds? All enlightenment appreciated.
