Question on NSTextView And Syntax Highlighting...

Okay...I''ve been reading through the Developer Docs on NSTextView trying to figure out something seemingly...
how do I tell NSTextView that:

1.) Let me know when a user has hit the space bar.
2.)On doing so, tell me what the last word he typed was.

This is probably easy, but I can't find the proper method...any ideas?
