This behaviour annoys me as well, so I got used to select right-to-left.

Kinda Arabic, agreed, but it works perfectly (in both my OpenStep and Mac OS

In my opinion quite the contrary: it would change the current nice text

So I take it the answer is no?
You know, I have yet to use a single Cocoa app I like. The way they tend to use POSIX paths instead of FSRefs, the way NSLayoutManager behaves, the way many Cocoa apps fail to use file types, not to mention the way command-clicking background windows doesn't remove the modifier before passing on the click-through (although Carbon has bugs *cough* features here too). Some of the so-called wonderful features like services which become a pain in the butt to use since the hotkeys keep jumping around.
The language and API are great, but the compiled results leave much to be desired.
