Well, I'm not sure what's Java and what's not, but a Java source can be
compiled to machine code by EGCS 2.9 (never tried any newer one).

I'm not a Java man, so I'm not sure, but I thought VM (virtual machine) is
the byte code interpret? If really so, then of course "using VM" and
"compiling to machine code" would be self-evidently contradictory.

I bitterly agree with the part of "Of course Apple killed it", incidentally.
