Transparent application icon

I having the devil of a time getting my app icon to be transparent. It currently has a white background. I have it in Photoshop but I can't figure out what to force it to be transparent.

IconComposer says in its main window, "No 1 Bit Mask (Computed from alpha)
". I assume it means an alpha channel. There's an alpha channel button in Photoshop's Save As but it's disabled.

What format should I be using for IconComposer to "compute from alpha" properly.

Thanks.

Simon
