Yeah, it seems the Apple menu is operated by the app indeed: just try to
make an app which locks (an old good "while (1);" suffices), and the apple
menu becomes unuseable!

That's another bug, somewhat annoying, but with an extremely easy
workaround, of course (switching to another app).

I guess Apple should cure all those problems in one big sweep by excluding
the Apple menu from the current application's care.
