[ANNOUNCE] Image-A-Gogo v1.0b1

  • Subject: [ANNOUNCE] Image-A-Gogo v1.0b1

This started out as a simple text parsing self-assignment to bypass some
annoying pop-up adds while using Google's image search that rapidly
bloomed into a much more full-featured tool. There are still many
finishing touches that I have to put in place, but the basic
functionality is working pretty well and I'm finding it to be quite a
useful little tool. Now that it's pretty stable, I figured I'd share it.

Image-A-Gogo is a web image search management utility that allows you to
manage Google Image searches much the way auction manager programs
manage e-Bay auctions. You can save and edit search results, and also
export the results to local HTML files. Image-A-Gogo allows you to
bypass the source HTML page an image is on, thereby avoiding any pop-up
or pop-under ads and reducing the bandwidth you use. Images can be
batch-saved, or viewed online and saved individually. "Like search"
functionality allows you to pull all the images from the same site as
any image in search.

Image-A-Gogo is fully multi-threaded and free (as in beer). I will be
making the source code available under some form of open source license
as soon as I have achieved a certain comfort level with it. Since this
is my first Cocoa application of any complexity, I know there are issues
besides those listed as "known problems" in the ReadMe.rtf file. I
would rather figure them out on my own (and learn in the progress)
rather than have you all find my errors for me.

For the time being, I'm making Image-A-Gogo available on an iTools home
page I set up for this purpose:

http://homepage.mac.com/naked_software/FileSharing1.html

Feedback is welcome, even criticisms; flames will be happily ignored
while I edit my mail filter.

Thanks all for the help the members of this list have given me thus far
as I try to learn Cocoa.

Jeff
