I'm getting the following message, that appears to be generated by one
of the Cocoa classes:

*** _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x1e31f00 of class
NSCalibratedRGBColor autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking

This is happening somewhere within a spawned thread where I'm
instantiating an NSImage from an NSData from an NSURL. Do you think
there's something I'm doing wrong to cause this, or is this something I
should report as a bug?

I'm getting these messages with some regularity in one of my threads, and know of other people who get it... I was quite worried until I noticed that this happens_only_ when running under gdb or PB. Running in "real life" this never shows up on the console.
