Please don't set the reply-to on list messages to the list! (Of course,
here I am CCing the list...) I much prefer for reply-to to be set to the
individual - sharing your reply with the list should be an explicit
action.
1) Answers to many questions _shouldn't_ be sent to the list - the list
members really don't need to see ten replies like "You probably forgot
to set your table view's delegate."
It's great for the original poster to summarize up later with "thanks
for the replies - a lot of people suggested that I had forgotten to set
my table view's delegate, but a couple of people suggested that I check
my system clock, and it turned out my clock had gotten screwed up and my
changes simply weren't being compiled because the object file was
stamped newer than the source file" or "a bunch of people told me to
check my table view's delegate, but that wasn't it - I've checked my
delegate and datasource, but I'm simply never being messaged - any other
ideas?"
But having all that extra, repetitive traffic serves mostly to chase off
the experienced members who are tired of reading ten replies to the same
question, for the Nth time this year.
2) I _hate_ it when most of my mail (the normal stuff) has reply-to set
to the originator, but some section has a reply-to set to some list.
Really ruins the sense of stability in the user experience, plus I
forget sometimes and send flames to the list. (And I generally want my
flames to be private - the point isn't to embarrass someone or show off
my righteousness, it's that I have a strong reaction to something.)

Hi all :)
Just a little question. Why is this list set so that when you reply to
a post it replies to the original poster, not the list? I can see how
sometimes it is useful to reply privately but that doesn't really fit
in general with the idea of sharing solutions. Cant we set it with a
reply-to field of cocoa-dev? most other lists manage it !t just Eudora
playing silly-buggers?
