I've got my hub pointed to my workplace. Whenever there's activity, I'm able to see it (even when typing into a remote shell). I'm even able to distinguish local traffic from Internet-traffic, because the local net uses 100MBit/s while my ADSL-modem got a 10MBit/s-networking card.
