I've forgot the original question; now I've found it in archives. The
question was "how to get the best /resolution,depth-wise/ bitmap
representation of NSImage";

I've skipped to conclusion too quickly. What I've meant was that

(i) NSImage can contain vector-based (NSEPSImageRep) or even metafile-based
(NSCustomImageRep) representations;
(ii) Therefore, the only way of getting a TIFF from a _generic_ image rep is
through drawing;
(iii) which can be done in different conditions.

Once more I do apologize for the extremely nonsensical way I used in the
original message.
