Hi,
A lot of people here seem to be working their way throught the O'Reilly
book. What's the general consensus on the quality? The first reveiws I read
said it was a waste of money but with so many using it I wonder if it's
worth a buy?
I am going through the book now, and for the most part it seems to be
pretty decent despite bad reviews from the beginners on this list. I think
a couple of prerequisites would be that you're familiar with C and
comfortable with object-oriented concepts. This is not the book for
absolute beginners, people not familiar with object oriented concepts, nor
for advanced users who have already mastered Cooca. It doesn't deal with
advanced concepts(relatively) such as Threads, DO etc. Hopefully there will
be a Cocoa for dummies for the absolute beginners and Advanced Cocoa for
others. After Learning Cocoa, the book I would like to see would be more in
the cookbook format eg. Perl cookbook, Java cookbook. This would allow you
to look for code snippets and ideas for doing certain things which you may
not know how to even though you know Cocoa. eg. How do I convert a FSSpec
to NSURL ?
Thanks
