You're over-generalizing, I think. There's a *huge* difference between taking advice from a community of developers, and blindly running "mystery commands" found in a stranger's signature.

When advice is asked for on fora such as those you mention, responses are subject to peer review. If someone were to answer questions with obviously bogus advice, the advice given would be quickly followed up with a dozen posts correcting it. In addition, many responses to such questions are given in the form of RTFM responses - pointers to authoritative information which can be used to verify whatever other advice is given.
