I'm doing it in my app. It's a tool palette, and for example double-clicking
on a selection tool performs a Select All. That kind of behavior has been
around since MacPaint. I think as long as it's not the only way to access
something it's OK.

(Don't ask my about my implementation; it's a Carbon app. But the point is
it's not necessarily bad UI)
