The point is 99% _mac_ users absolutely do not need nor know to mount a .dmg
remotely through terminal commands.
BTW: Many people on this list seem to forget the definition of an
"end-user": they even confuse it with their own person i.e. an advanced
power-user / developer / UNIX geek. People _mostly_ buy Macs because it's
easy to use, cool looking and productive, not to do weird stuff with UNIX
deamons, terminal commands, X-Window and so on.
Software features have to be designed for the targeted and major market
first i.e. basic users on the Mac, not for developers or UNIX geeks.
Complicating the UI for something that benefits only 1% of the users is not
a smart move.
Now, I agree, that for really special purposes and users, you might need to
mount a .dmg remotely. But this small advantage is compensated by the fact
.dmg are not even a cross-plateform format (unless I'm wrong?). So...
