The best introductory book I know of is by Aaron Hillegass from the Big
Nerd Range. I can strongly recommend it.
Check out the Apple Sample code at www.apple.com/developer/. This is
getting better and better, and I think there is a converter example, at
least for java cocoa. Also check your hard drive: In the
/Developer/Examples directory are many interesting code snippets,
though there are more on the web site.
There are a few online resources I particularly like:
www.cocoadevcentral.com
www.cocoadev.com
www.stepwise.com
www.macdevcenter.com
Stepwise has the Bill Cheeseman series of Tutorials: The Vermont
Recipes. Good stuff.
MacdevCenter is an O'Reilly site, and has a good series of introductory
Cocoa Tutorials by Mike Beam. These start small and build up, and
include lots of sample code. Definitely worth a look.
Where should you start? Hmm, tough one. I would buy the Hillegass book,
and start immediately on the Mike Beam stuff. Then work up to the
others.
Good luck,
Drew

I'm a seasoned C++/Win32/MFC programmer who's embarked on a look at
all things OSX. Cocoa/PB/IB look very interesting and powerful but I'm
struggling to get into it a bit. One thing I've been looking for is a
step by step guide to producing a Cocoa app in IB similar to the
Converter app for Carbon. Is there such an example document? Also, any
references to books or online resources that will help?
Thanks for any input
