I'm actually quite surprised to discover that.
It's not as if they're accustomed to working with the latest Stephen
King novel, and have had this technical text sprung upon them
unexpectedly. Sams specializes in technical books - I'd expect them to
be at least passingly familiar with the typographical traditions that
have evolved around the type of material they're working with.
