gsdb hasn't been enhanced for quiet a long time but gsdb2 (EOF 3.x compatible library) is in progress. Some parts start working well, some other are not finished...
There's no public release for the moment but we hope this will come soon...

Don't think so. It's LGPL'ed not GPL'ed:

If you just dynamic link against it, there no need to LGPL or GPL your code.
