So I feel foolish asking this, but I need to get the local machine's ip address(es). I have tried the recommended way in the Stevens book, using gethostbyname on the nodename returned by uname(), but gethostbyname seems to return NULL, so I am stumped.

If anyone could help me out I would be very in debt to you for the rest of my life :(
