how to make new window fill screen

  • Subject: how to make new window fill screen

Hi,

I have a standard document based application. When I create a window, I want to make sure that it takes up as much of the screen as possible (preferably excluding the dock). What is the proper way to do this?

Essentially I want the same behavior as clicking the zoom button but I want to do it when my window comes up and I want to do it without putting the window into the 'zoomed' state.

Any help would be appreciated.
