Does anyone know where I can find documentation on contextual menus in OS X?
I would like to add a system wide contextual menu to the finder, but I can't
seem to find any information on how to do that in OS X. Would I have to use
Carbon or are there Cocoa methods?

Carbon. It's basically a CFPlugin, and there is some more information in Menus.h
There is a Sample CM Plugin in someone's iDisk, but I forget the name, sorry.
