and my app won't even launch properly.

Probably you can do two things:

1) Remove code to isolate the bug in gdb, then forward the rest to <http://bugreport.apple.com/>

2) Continue with old style debugging: add NSLog's, printf's and comment out code to narrow your point of trouble. Once you eliminated the thing crashing gdb, you can continue as before.
