PBX alternative?

Hello,

Is there a -simple- alternative to PBX for Cocoa development? The old PB was never a speed daemon, but with PBX the madness has gone too far for my poor nerves... Plus, eleven top level menus seems like, er, eight too many...

Short of using valium extensively, what does one do?
