Problems with netinfo/ni.h

I am writing a ni program to replace NetInfo Manager, and
I ran into a snag. If I write a simple C program using some
ni functions, like ni_free and ni_list I get link errors. Many
util functions work OK, like ni_fancyopen, ni_open, and all
the non-db accessing functions. On the other hand, when
I compile the same file in a basic cmd-line project under
PB, it works fine.
Got any clues?
