Where does one add the $CLASSPATH environment variable?

Hi, I would like to add the $CLASSPATH environment
variable under Mac OS X?
Thus, I was wondering, which file should
I update? BTW, I have been looking for
the lib/ext folder for Java because I can
do it that way as well because I do have
a jar file.

Thanks in advance,

-Conrad
