Do you mean a system wide global key sequence? I.e. that no matter which application is currently
active you would take control if the user pressed the magic keys or do you mean only when
YOUR application is the current "front and center" one to do something ..
no, I mean a system wide global key sequence...

If you mean "global" then not a lot of option (a kernel extension won't do a thing for you
since this is the window manager area).. the only idea is to insert a global menu item
like the TextExtra's module does ... it is GPL so you can get a good look at how it performs it's
magic..
where can I get more information on this??
otherwise is it possible to inset a global menu like the monitor settings menu??
maybe this would be another way...

cheers

MAX
