Where to Go From Here?

I'm pretty new to both this list and Cocoa programming in general, but I
bought Aaron Hillegass's excellent "Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X" and
have made it all the way up to Chapter 24 (Working with NSTextView).
I'll probably complete the book in the next few days.
Which leads me to the subject of this message: where do I go from here?
While Hillegass has given me quite a wide range of information, the
depth doesn't seem to be deep enough to cover some basic functionality
in programs. (I certainly don't fault him for this; it's near impossible
to write a book that is both a good introduction to and in-depth look at
any topic, and "Cocoa Programming" is pretty much perfect as an
introduction.)
So, is there any good resource to look at from here? I'd like to just
hop in to writing programs, but things like subclassing views (and
creating my own) seem a bit daunting, and relatively unfamiliar beyond
the basics of NSBezierPath.
Any help in getting me on the journey to the next level (no pun
intended, surely) in Cocoa programming would be greatly appreciated.
