Not sure exactly what to report as the bug. This is not a bug in Cocoa,
I think, but it's a bug almost bound to occur in any app. So do I log it
as a TextEdit bug and that's it?

Given that external developers can't log bugs against specific topics anyway, this point seems fairly moot. I would just describe the bug as accurately as you can, and hope that it gets routed to the proper place within Apple.

While waiting, there's very little information available to me as to
what's happening with the bug. I can only see the last modification
date, state and resolution. Is there any way to find out more?

Not that I know of. It's certainly annoying the way this works -- I know, because I worked at Apple before, that there is all kinds of state in the bug that I'm just barred from seeing. Is this because Apple wants to control what information external developers see, or is it just a limitation of the current RadarWeb implementation? Anybody know?
