Personally, if I'm stumped, I compose a message to this very list,
and in the typing I can think of solutions- at other times, it's
good just to forget about it and listen to some music, take a walk,
have a snack. Any responses would be appreciated-- this is, after
all, quite on-topic, since it is about the act of development on
Cocoa. ^_^ So there.
I usually don't ask the list until I've searched everywhere I can
think of and thought about it heaps, and yet even after all that,
quite often by the time I've finished composing a message to the list
I've thought of the solution. Usually after I've read a book, watched
TV, done dishes or played some mindless computer game for a while my
subconscious mind suddenly jumps up and down excitedly like the dock
icon of an app which wants my attention, and it has a fully formed
idea ready for me. I have to agree with Sam though, writing Cocoa
apps is my downtime. The other things are what I do when I either
have to or if I'm stuck with something in Cocoa (or if it's a really
good TV show like The Simpsons). :^)
