dd: Cocoa for a living? [WAS: Cocoa's popularity]

i've been following the "popularity" thread with great interest. here's a related question. as budding Cocoa programmers (like me) emerge, how does that affect the Cocoa "industry"? does it bring experienced Cocoa programmers more business? obviously it helps the Aaron Hillegasses of the world, and others who teach Cocoa and write books about it. but what about the programmers? are all of us rabid newbies making more opportunities for the NExT [previous, actually ;)] "generation", or just more competition for possible jobs? are we helping to increase Cocoa's popularity and therefore its ability to help Cocoa programmers make a better living, or simply turning Cocoa into the next open source community? open source is great, but what about paying the light bill?

thanks.
