Not to try and smash your creativity, but OpenGL can be used for anything
from games to simulations. The thing about OpenGL is it's supported, is a
state machine, and it is hardware supported on nearly every popular graphics
card. Software rendering can be done too.

What can't you do in OpenGL? Maybe we can clarify things for you,

But I would actually send to the appropriate lists (mac-opengl for example)

Cocoa supports an OpenGL pane (NSOpenGLView) but that doesn't mean this is
the list to post things like that. If you have problems implementing the
pane itself, feel free to ask us! ;)
