I don't have a box to be able to install the latest bits, right now
I'm still contemplating the benefits I get by going back to MacOS
X. Since I'm an old NeXTSTEP/OPENSTEP developer, I'd love to get to
use the same tools again, but I'm a little hesitant to become locked
in a proprietary environment, no matter how good it is. I've had a bad
experience when OPENSTEP went away, so I don't want to repeat the
mistake once again.
I was looking at the ability to develop Java Swing apps using
InterfaceBuilder, and I understand from you message that this is
possible with the newer tools. Could you confirm whether you can build
a Java Swing app on MacOS X and have it run on Linux, lets say? I know
you can use Java to create native apps on MacOS X, but you use the
Java to ObjC bridge classes, hence you're tied to MacOS X. What I'd
like to have is the ability to create native Swing apps, and have them
run on any Java platform. Is this possible?
Regards,
