Which is generally done in italics to show an error when a color will
not work. However, I am not aware of anyway to set the menu
color/style/font without actually getting the Carbon Menu from the
Cocoa menu (all the cocoa calls to do this were sadly removed, I
guess someone could make a category or something that brings them
back....)

use the color as an indicator of some sort (an error indicator, I'd
guess, that being what red is often used for). If so, keep in mind
that not everyone can tell red from black (totally colorblind people
