Hey guys.

Funny to see how off topic a thread can go. Ondra, sorry I reinforced your suggestion of using tear-off tabs for my inspector palettes :)

I believe the fuss between Adobe and Macromedia had more to do with the concept of "dockable" palettes, than with tear-off menus. Since their patent was filed in 1994, it seems like there would have to be valid prior art somewhere before (that meets the requirements of "prior art", i.e. not being held as a trade secret).

Check out the patent at http://www.adobe.com/adobefacts/patent.html. If you can verify existing prior art, Macromedia's lawyers would love to talk to you. It could be used to invalidate some or all of the patent claims.

Brock
