Please also file a bug at <http://bugreport.apple.com/> telling Apple that you want to create a database application with Cocoa, and what you want to do with it.

Apple is just sitting on a great technology called EOF, and the more they hear developers want to create database applications, the more likely it is that they'll actually bring it back. Essentially, EOModeler & EOF make designing & implementing the Model part of your application as straightforward as Interface Builder makes designing & implementing the View part of your application. They are a *huge* competitive advantage in WebObjects (where they still exist), and they would be for Cocoa too.

Frankly, though, I still don't know that the decision makers at Apple "get it" even now. Apple can be so insulated from the real world, and sometimes just can't see what's right in front of their face. In this case, what's right in front of their face is that developers need a standard database access system in Mac OS X. Not just developers writing custom or vertical market applications, but developers creating applications for the mass market.
