I have used NSStatusBar and NSStatusItem and have an icon on the right side of the
menu bar. The only problem is is that the icon appears as the rightmost one(to the
right of the clock). I am using a background task that gets a notification that a
user has logged into the console as the event to kick off this little process. Does
anybody know how to get my item on the left side of the clock?
Thanks,
Mike

Well, Menu Extras (bundles that you can drag to the status bar and

re-order, and run inside SystemUIServer) are private, but you can use

NSStatusBar and NSStatusItem from a standard application.
