I don't think we should.

If we had one, everyone would use it and things would start looking cramped again.

Lastly if you place a Toolbar on your application, like all good Aqua apps should have, the first item of the toolbar is much closer than 20 pixel to the left of the screen.

A toolbar doesn't count as a part of your window contents. It's a seperate entity from a design standpoint.

This is usually when the window is mostly filled with large items like large scrollable text fields or list fields. In these cases, the larger border looks bad.

If there are only a couple of large containers (like text fields or lists) that fill the window, I prefer no border at all.

Just go ahead and use what looks best. (Or, better yet, try to find a designer to make that decision.)
