So is ObjC Cocoa is headed for the same graveyard as ObjC WebObjects?
Actually, it could be an attempt to rearchitect and improve the Java
Bridge.
That is, after all, something that integrates the runtimes of both
languages.
Which could make sense, and be advantageous, without killing Objective-C
itself. It could also add useful things to Objective-C, like namespaces.
That listing doesn't suggest anything truly heinous, like moving the
frameworks to Java, or switching to Java syntax.
The Bridge is pretty old technology. I don't know how much it's been
improved over the years, but I bet it's been incremental improvements,
nothing really major. The docs haven't exactly gotten much attention.
Apple's done a lot of work on their JVM, and perhaps they now want
to use that experience to improve the Bridge with a rearchitecting.
Perhaps recent JVMs have added features that aren't being taken
advantage of, which could be exploited in the Bridge.
Anyhow, it's not time to panic. Yet.
