Sending an email

Hello folks,
Being a total new guy on the block with regards to Cocoa, I wondered what is the most reliable way to get my Cocoa App to send an email to a given address? Nothing I could find in the archives seemed relevant.

The first thing I thought of was find out if the users mail app was running (if not launching it) then 'apple-eventing' it into doing what I want (then quitting it if it wasn't running originally).

But this seems a little cumbersome and error prone. Is there a more reliable/simpler way with Cocoa?

Thanks,
Stu.
