Argh, that argument could be used to defend just about any horrible interface idea.
The *reason* it (the delay in click-wait) is insane is because there is absolutely no reason to it! What is the purpose of the delay other than to piss everybody off? Either have it enabled or disabled, the delay makes no sense.
(no sense, no reason, insane, which term do you prefer here?)
As for that extra invisible character that's a huge difference depending where you paste, like the terminal.

Ha, I've been reporting it since 10.0. Apple knows damn well the behavior is inconsistent; unfortunately, they don't seem to care. :-(
Inconsistent AND inferior |-)
I say it's inferior for the specific reason that the proposed behavior would allow users to select or not select the trailing linefeed depending which side of the text you drag down on. My proposed behavior would also be more consistent in that dragging up and down have mirror behaviors.
If you don't like the comparison to Carbon apps then just consider the current vs the proposed behavior.

Unfortunately, the behavior is exactly the same in Jaguar.
I expected as much.
I have also filed bug reports BTW.
So can anybody suggest how to fix NSLayoutManager?
