Ummm...first of all, where in the OS X interface is "Okay" used instead
of "OK"? I don't think I've ever seen "Okay" used on a button.
I agree, however, that "Dismiss" is terrible. Users do not understand
what it means to "dismiss a dialog" (it's geek-speak), and as such will
sit there wondering what they're being dismissive of by clicking the
button. :)
If you're displaying a simple message and there are no consequences to
clicking the default button other than closing the dialog box, you
should use "OK". (And no, "OK" is not a verb, but it's fine to use it
in this context.)

Are saying it's okay not to use a verb here or are you saying OK is a
verb in this context?
Neither. Though OK is probably used as a verb, or at least we can
make it
out to be, in order for the most common button title to agree with
the HIG
;)
If you think OK is to vague, then use a verb. That was my point.
Dismiss,
for example, in your case.
