This is the key to why Apple killed almost all the "killed" technologies.
Apple's fault has not been so much in the implementation as in thinking that
developers have all the time and money in the world to implement difficult,
time-consuming, expensive, proprietary technologies.
Well, it's also true that some technologies simply got preempted by open
source or other standards, so it made no sense (for Apple or developers) to
continue supporting them.
I think Apple has gotten a lot smarter about all this in recent years.
