It sounds like they went through quite the contortion to justify the Address Book's use of Metal. I would not have used Metal in the Address book, I actually opened AB up in Interface Builder and turned off Metal for it, and it would be revolting if everyone started using this interface.

Also, doesn't the windowing manager use run length encoding to compress a window's buffer? Wouldn't the Metal theme be a lot less compressible than the horizontal stripes of Aqua?
