Hello all:
I have been learning Cocoa for a couple of months as a hobbyist, and I have been quite happy. Cocoa does so much for you that Powerplant never did, and using it is enjoyable; but at times I find myself wanting OS-9 back. In particular some of the sound manager routines I had for <= OS9 have all changed, some of the Cocoa documentation was deficient or the classes don't exist, and I found myself trying to hack together Carbon/Cocoa fixes. As a result I feel like I should get more documentation on _all_ the Carbon APIs to have handy.
I have heard good things about "Carbon Programming" by K. J. Bricknell, but I don't really need a book on how to program -- rather I would like a book on the APIs and some simple examples (like the old Inside Mac series). I can't find this book locally, and can't peruse it. So my question is: would people on the list recommend this book or another as a good reference? Something to keep me happy when I'm not in front of my mac to just peruse and keep sharp on some of the corners of the APIs?
In an effort to keep down the traffic, I don't think you need to 'cc:' the list (although I leave that to your discretion). :)
Thanks in advance,
Jeremy Faller
