Have you compared the usability of the existing Apple/Omni list
archives to the ones at cocoa.mamasam.com? There's no contest. Even
ignoring this, it is nice to be able to search multiple lists at a
time, especially when they come from different sources.

"There's no contest" is right. One thing I like about Mamasam is that when you go to read a message, the whole thread of the message is listed at the bottom.

Even if each list's archives had a UI as clean as Mamasam's, I would still prefer to do a consolidated search.
