That is exactly what I observe.

also, if you turn off your web proxy then it goes to your local
computer (a workaround).

the bug in Safari is even worse then that because it is probably a bug
picked up from the CoreFoundation functions, so every http GET (even
ones outside Safari) will suffer the bug.

this is demonstrated in the little project I made at:
http://www.vvi.com/~lbland/testURL.gz (a project builder directory)
